LEVELS

At Carlisle Dance, levels are in place to make sure each dancer receives the attention that he/she requires.  Ages are just a guideline.  Students will be placed where they will receive the best dance education.  The first two weeks are reserved for observation.  The staff reserves the right to request that student change levels if they are not in the level that best suites their needs and abilities.

Preschool dance

TINY TAP: AGE 2

PRE/INTRO: PRESCHOOL, AGES 3-4

PRIMARY: KINDERGARTEN, AGES 5-6

Our main goal is for children to experience the joy of dance, enrich their skills, and learn to appreciate this art. Students are familiarized with the necessary disciplines and class etiquette.

Beginners

LEVEL 1: 1st-2nd GRADE, AGES 6-8

LEVEL 2: 2nd-5th GRADE, AGES 7-9

Children are taught the technique of each style in a fun atmosphere. Emphasis is on correct body placement and developing a love for dance.  Classes at this level are similar to lower level classes, but emphasize more technique, terminology, structure, and introduce ballet students to ballet barre work.

INTERMEDIATE

LEVEL 3: 4th- 7th GRADE, AGES 9-11

LEVEL 4: 6th-8th GRADE, AGES 11-14

Children are taught technique of each style in a fun atmosphere. Correct body placement and the development of a love for dance continues.  The complexity of exercises, as well as, the attack, intensity, speed, and coordination of movement all increase after Level 2.

Advanced

LEVEL 4*: MIDDLE SCHOOL

LEVEL 5*: HIGH SCHOOL

When students reach Level 4, their basic technical requirements have to be fully established.  By Level 4* and 5*, students should have accomplished all elements of technique, which have been taught in the lower levels.  Students also have to be able to maintain values as more complex steps, combinations, grander versions, and faster tempos are introduced. Students in Level 4* and/or 5* are taking a minimum of 2 ballet classes per week.
